LIDF Opening Party at the Horse Hospital
A wild night at the quirky and intimate Horse Hospital just behind Russell Square, where LIDF staff, filmmakers, hangers-on and general party-goers mingled, gossiped and debated film.
Amongst others, Abel Ferrara and Marcelo Fortaleza (director of tonight’s film ‘ Claude Levi-Strauss, ‘Return to the Amazon’ ) regaled tails of their filmmaking exploits.
Marcelo told a circle of intrigued listeners how he was delighted when 96 year old Strauss agreed eagerly to back and be involved in his film (Strauss had become extremely reclusive by that time), and how he initially had a hard time being excepted by the Nambikwara Indians, who when he arrived had just evicted all ‘outsiders’ from the immediate proximity.
At one o’clock everyone was sufficiently drunk enough to want the warmth of their beds and head home for a bit of sleep before the exciting all-day audio, visual and filmic event at The Hub in King’s Cross.
