Tuscan Flavours
A wonderful, serendipitous find while strolling around Firenze in May. Waiting to visit the Cappella Brancacci in the nearby Chiesa di Santa Maria del Carmine and view the frescos by Masaccio and Masolino, completed by Filippino Lippi, the LIDF director found himself reading Vasari and wandering into a small enoteca. A table for one followed by the best organic food and wine-tasting. Then he got chatting with the owner, a dialogue that has continued. After sampling most of their self-produced organic wine, a gentle stroll followed along the Arno, and an idea formed. The place is called Vivanda. It is an organic restaurant in the district of San Frediano. The LIDF is organising winter evenings of film and wine-tasting at Vivanda and looking ahead we intend to run organic workshops at the agriturismo run by the owners of Vivanda.
